Chariots on Fire Pressでは、
クリエイティブな人が情熱を傾けるもうひとつの世界に着目し、
その世界を一冊のビジュアルブックにまとめるプロジェクトを行なっています。

本プロジェクトの第二弾では、
世界中の音楽ファンを魅了する70’sロックバンド「AMERICA」のボーカルGerry Beckleyが全米ツアーでの旅先で撮りためたアメリカでの写真をテーマにビジュアルブックにまとめた一冊を発売いたします。

Lives in Venice, LA, CA & Australia

ジェリー・ベックリー、デューイ・バネル、ダン・ピークの3人によりロンドンで結成され、1971年 にアルバム『アメリカ』でデビュー。3人とも父親はロンドンに駐留するアメリカの軍人であり、 アメリカンスクールでの仲間だった。1972年に発表したシングル「名前のない馬」が期せずし て全米1位の大ヒットとなる。急遽この曲を追加収録してアルバムを再発したところミリオンセ ラーを記録、グラミー賞の最優秀新人賞を受賞した。同年にロサンゼルスに活動拠点を移す。 その後も「アイ・ニード・ユー」「ヴェンチュラ・ハイウェイ」、ラス・バラードの作による「風のマ ジック」といったヒット曲を送り出した。爽やかなコーラスとノスタルジックなメロディーを生 かした素朴なサウンドは、当時すでに人気を確立していたクロスビー、スティルス、ナッシュ& ヤングと比較されることが多かった。
